Translator’s note

In Portuguese “O Mistério da Biblioteca de Martinville”

As with my other literary translations, I followed this book from beginning to end — from first approaching the international agency to the last translated line. But this one holds a special place in my heart: funny, intriguing, surprising and light all at once, this mystery for readers aged 8 to 12 was a delight to read and even better to translate!

Three narrators, each with a rhythm and a style of their own — working on this text was a pure pleasure. Translating Rebecca Stead, Newbery Medal winner, and Wendy Mass, New York Times bestselling author, was an honor and a privilege.

Translator’s note

In Portuguese “Um lobo chamado Vento”

A unique, poetic, and deliberately paced narrative, using uncommon words to describe simple things — as the story is told entirely from the perspective of a wild wolf. Translating this book meant experiencing every emotion he goes through, holding my breath as the journey unfolded. A deeply moving, at times intense story, beautifully brought to life in Portuguese.

In Portuguese “Guia do Parto por Ina May Gaskin”

I am a mother, and while working on this book, I felt pregnant all over again. I only wish I had read it before giving birth to my daughter.

Ina May inspires, teaches, and embraces — and should be read by every woman planning to give birth, regardless of how she wishes to experience that moment. I feel honored to have translated this work.
